Southwark (/ ˈ s ʌ ð ə k / SUDH-ək) is a district of Central London situated in the northwestern portion of the London Borough of d 1 1 ⁄ 2 miles ( km) east of Charing Cross, it fronts the River Thames and the City of London to the north.
